In this one day workshop you will start your journey into the colourful world of Fair Isle knitting. You will learn about the history of Fair Isle knitting and why it is such an important part of the Shetland islands history. You will learn how to stand two colours at a time using specific techniques and how colour is so importantly put together in fair isle knitting. We will use Shetland yarn to create a FairIsle headband. You will also learn how to read fair isle charts, whilst knitting in the round. I’m this one day workshop your get to practice your newly learnt technique and get to start on your headband pattern that is designed exclusively for this workshop by me - Sophie from Forest and Dot. Fair isle knitting is one my most favourite knitting techniques and I have been teaching this technique at Cromarty arts trust.
This workshop is suitable for those with basic knitting knowledge, and can knit, purl, rib, cast on and off confidently and are looking to start out on their fair isle journey.
Shetland yarn is included in the price for you to use throughout the day and make your headband but please bring one pair of circular needles, 40cm long and 3.25mm needle size.
